Authority of a Child of God
When Jesus was being arrested He indicated that, if He had not wanted to be arrested, He could have asked the Father for more than twelve legions of angels to come to His aid. Roman legions consisted of 6,000 men; therefore, Jesus could have called for more than 72,000 angels to assist Him.
It is important to fully understand that the Father controls, energizes, and sustains all that exists and that nothing can or will exist unless He allows it to exist. This is one reason that demons fear the authority of Jesus Christ.
They also understand that God is a God of law and that all things must be done in accordance with His law and within the boundaries of a fixed set of rules. Therefore, when dealing with a demon, one must understand one's authority and the rules that determine how to deal with them.
"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:17-19)
"And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour." (Acts 16:16-18)
Angels
Though there are different kinds of angels, such as seraphims and cherubims, as Children of God we have guardian angels. It says in the Word of God that angels encamp around those who believe. We have special favor with God because we are joined with God through our belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
There are times when believers have personally experienced visitations from angels or perceived their presence, though they may not see them. It is a wonderful feeling as a Child of God to know that we are protected from the evil that is in this world. It gives one a sense of peace, comfort, and security.
Gabriel is spoken of many times in the Bible. He is an example of one of God's most powerful angels. He was the angel that delivered the message to the Virgin Mary that she would give birth to our Savior. Gabriel is a powerful angel who has battled Satan and his cohorts to fulfill the will of God. He obviously has many responsibilities! As there are many angels of God, he is truly one of the most powerful!
Michael the Archangel is perhaps the highest of all the angels. He is the only angel in the Bible who is designated “the Archangel” (Jude 9).
Believer's Victory Over Satan
Lucifer is a fallen angel, who at one time was an Archangel. There are ranks of demons, from greatest to least; there are the wicked spirits in high places that God deals with; then the three we as believers must deal with are the rulers of the darkness of this world, then there are also the powers and principalities. In this verse we read about a parallel to Lucifer when he once held a prominent position; the Scripture mentions the prince of Tyrus, it is referring to the demon ruling over him, not Tyrus himself: “Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God.”-Ezekiel 28:2
These verses talk about the spirit behind Tyrus, as no man since Adam and Eve have ever walked in the Garden of Eden: “Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Hou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.”-Ezekiel 28:12-19
Man is a spirit who has a soul and lives in a body: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”-Hebrews 4:12 The devil is the god of this world and he has a right to this because Adam signed his lease over earth to the devil in the Garden of Eden. However, when Jesus died on the Cross, He defeated the devil for us and through His Name we have authority over Satan. In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit would anoint them only for specific purposes or ministries. In the New Testament Covenant we have authority through Jesus Christ. However, since Satan is the god of this world, he comes at us primarily through the flesh, and after that the soul, and then the spirit. Wrong thinking gives the devil access to your mind. A Christian cannot be possessed in their spirit, but they can be oppressed in the soul or body.

Go to God daily in prayer
Prayer is talking to God, telling Him what is on our hearts, and listening to Him speak to our hearts. Your relationship with God is like a relationship with anyone else here on earth; if you neglect it, you will hinder your relationship with Him. When God speaks to your heart; obey what He is telling you. This doesn't come naturally, but Faith comes by Hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
Read God's Word
The Bible is the Word of God; when you meditate on His word it begins to lay hold of your life and circumstances, it positively affects your way of thinking supernaturally. When your read the Word of God, supernaturally God will give you supernatural faith and trust in Him!
Obey what God shows you to Do
When you obey God from your heart, you are showing Him that you love Him. You obey God because you want to please Him. The Ten Commandments are no longer a set of rules; the law of God abides in your heart. When God shows you something that He wants you to do, or He wants you to walk by faith on, avoid getting caught up in doubt and unbelief. The closer you walk with God, the more clearly you will see the truth in things and Hear God's voice.
Witness to Others
Share the Gospel (good news) with others. Use discretion though; let God guide you and show you what you need to do. Pray for anyone laid on your heart.
Trust in God
Trust cannot develop if you don't nourish your relationship with God. Faith is supernatural. Walk with God and always trust Him no matter what the circumstances may be.
Holy Spirit
Remove any obstacle in your relationship, whether it be a stronghold such as alcoholism, a bad temper, cussing, strife, resentment...anything that God lays on your heart that is hindering your relationship. If you are angry with God for any reason, deal with this, pray about it; do not believe the devil's lies about God, because God is always on your side! When you are spiritually in your right mind, you can draw on the power of the Holy Spirit.

The key to walking with God and in His anointing is being in tune with Him and in harmony with others. When negative feelings come, don’t get into the flesh, get back with God. Keep your mind sanctified and full of God’s Word. Stay in His Presence, stay in His will. When things are out of your hand or others don’t want to do this, pray that God would change their heart/circumstances/situation. When you stay in shape spiritually by reading God’s Word and staying in prayer, He will work through you; giving you favor, faith, and anointing with Him. Faith is a defense and gives you authority over the enemy and faith comes more easily when you live this way. Keep your mind sanctified and renewed in Christ. Listen and obey God’s voice when you hear from Him. Stay in the spirit and in truth.
God’s Word energizes and anoints you; the Holy Spirit gives you a God-inspired confidence that enables you to preach/witness to others about God. His anointed Word gives you authority as He works through you. Jesus gives you healing, life, purity. You must put down the flesh, doubt, and unbelief. God’s mercy is everlasting.
Seeking God
-Focus on Jesus' ability to heal, deliver, guide etc. Focus on the power of the Cross.
-Have faith in Jesus, seek Him every day to increase faith, supernaturally the Holy Spirit enables us to have the mind of Christ and to be conformed to His image by our actions and focusing on His will.
-The Word is energized through faith and prayer.
-Pray to hear God's voice and find your strength in Jesus' strength.
-Righteousness is imputed to us by faith, however we need to walk righteously (bear fruit) as well.
Jesus has already defeated Satan, rebuking the enemy, commanding that the enemy cease and desist is done by submitting your mind will and emotions to God. We have authority over the enemy in Jesus' name, but we must walk closely with God and apply His authority over the enemy in our lives.
